Vijay Rajkumar is composer, filmmaker, artist and architectural designer.
Vijay's architectural practice engages in a variety of scales and temporalities, with a particular interest in material experimentation as a means to discover new aesthetic, performative, and structural possibilities in the built environment.
Parallel to his design work, as an artist, Vijay enjoys working with time-based media, generative art forms, and with light, sound and space. His work has been exhibited in solo installations and group shows in the US and internationally.
Vijay is the recipient of the 2022 Architects Foundation/McAslan Travel Fellowship and is currently based in Florence, Italy developing a study on the performance of structure and light in the work of Pier Luigi Nervi.
Vijay was born in Boston and is a 2023 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Master of Architecture). He also holds an M.A in Computational Media & Digital Art History from Duke University, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with Honors in Computer Science.
